 Take Caution with Muscle Creams

With the beginning of another swimming season; sore, tired muscles are to be expected. However, caution should be used in how we treat these sore muscles.  Excessive use of muscle creams containing methyl salicylate, the wintergreen-scented ingredient found in anti-inflammatory liniments such as; Ben Gay, Icy Hot and Tiger Balm should be avoided.

"When You Train In The Lake, Don't Miss The Boat"

“Safety in the Sun - Why Make Skin Cancer Number One?”

There’s no denying that swimming is a healthy activity. It builds muscle, develops aerobic capacity, and burns calories. But swimming, coaching, and officiating in the summer sun is not without its risks. Increased exposure to the sun leads to increased exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation. UV radiation can damage the genetic material in cells, and the damage increases as exposure to the sun increases. One outcome of this exposure is skin cancer.
